Kim Nelson is a writer, storyteller, Bloody Mary enthusiast, and hugger of animals. She graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 2002 with a B.A. in theatre, and studied comedy writing, solo performance, and improvisation. After graduating, she completed the Second City Training Center writing program and co-created a sketch comedy group, The GeekOuts!. They wrote and produced several shows at Donny's Skybox at Second City, and appeared at Chicago Sketchfest.
In 2012, Kim co-founded the Chicago-based writing group Drinkers with Writing Problems. She is a regular contributor and co-editor on their blog, and co-producer of the their monthly live literary show, Lit Up. Currently she also contributes to an online pop culture magazine, Heauxs, and writes their Game of Thrones recaps. Her work has been published in various outlets (see Writing for more info), and she regularly performs as a storyteller and live lit reader at venues all across Chicago.
Kim finds inspiration in music, pop culture, ghost stories, road trips, comic book superheroes, ancient mythology, wild animals, woodland creatures, and karaoke bars.
